Be aware of possible errors reported by lower level handlers (in this
case the device driver for the hard disk) and deal with them in a
configurable, sensible and logical manner.

None, but if it is possible it should use as much of the information
available to it, eg errors logged by lower device handlers, in the
decisions it makes.
